History

Jacquie Miller, founder of Jubal's Academy, was looking to create an opportunity for young musicians who were not eligible for school band programs due to being homeschooled, location, or attending a school where a music program was not offered. In the fall of 2009, she began the program in Irvington, Kentucky with three families. After some time, they received a small grant to help purchase equipment. In 2010, the program began shifting toward the Hardin County area, when Mrs. Miller relocated to Rineyville. In 2017, Shepherds Way Community Church graciously opened their doors to the program. After outgrowing the space at Shepherds Way, the program made the decision to move to Hodgenville United Methodist Chruch where they were welcomed with open arms. Over the years, private lessons for various instruments and new courses have been added to the program. In addition to these regular classes, we try to explore other areas of music through music enrichment during the summer months. These music enrichment classes have included bucket drumming, music analysis, conducting, sight reading, careers in music, and more. One fun and unique opportunity we gave to our students in recent years was disassembling a grand piano, allowing each student to participate and take home a piece of the piano as a souvenir. These classes are intended to help a student's music education. Some of our students have gone on to study music at the collegiate level and beyond.

Jacquie Miller passed the baton to Jenna Haynes, the current program director, in 2019.
